GENCAD’s focus is mainly on improving access and quality of education for vulnerable children from pastoralists’ communities in Northern Kenya. It’s well understood that education is the single most powerful way to lift people out of poverty. We provide secondary scholarships, laboratory equipment, school facilities improvements, WASH activities and remedial literacy and numeracy after school programmes for primary school children.
In addition to education, we also focus on economic empowerment of marginalised groups, especially women. We provide them interest-free micro-credit and business skills training. Occasionally we also carry out humanitarian activities in the region.
